Something that does get to me is the way many people treat deaf people, they do not treat them like normal human beings and this is not right at all. The worst time in fact was when I was visiting someone in hospital and another relative came in. I knew she was deaf because I had spoken to her before which meant that I also knew how intelligent this lady was as well. I cannot even believe to imagine how annoying it must be for the person as I was getting annoyed myself. Yes I can understand that people perhaps need to raise their voiced for the sound to get through the hearing aid but there is no need to talk to her like she is an idiot.

This is most certainly not the only ever case I have sen happening. So why do people do it, is there a proper reason behind it?

So many people think that because someone is deaf it makes them dumb too and this is something that really bothers me, people need to be educated on the matter. It must be very hard to sit there and get treated like an idiot when you are not one.

So the main thing to remember is that unless you know for a fact that the deaf person you are talking to is also suffering from a mental condition there is no way that you should be talking to them like they are stupid.
